Centre (Center) Release Buckle

Description

SummarySomething different! Maximum printability, no support required! This buckle has a press-to-release mechanism, versus the usual squeeze-the-side to release buckle. Useful for tight narrow spaces. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UK9zg3l7GxI Design for 25mm (an inch) width webbing, simply scale up as you please for your purpose, but I recommend olive green filament with rainbow colours! Two types of buckle receiver, depending on how you strap your webbing, one has a double loop, single loop for stitched on buckle. Best print with 100% infill and 0.15mm layer height, Shouldn't take more than 3.5 hours to print a pair. Enjoy!

I printed this and it looks very nice. However, when you try to use it, you understand why most such buckles are designed to open by pressing on both sides: the single button design in rather uncomfortable to open because you need to both press and either push or pull from the other side. This works, but it is far from the comfort that you get from pressing the two sides and the buckle just opens more or less by itself. The advantage of the one-button design is, of course, that it is much sturdier.
