Description

*There does seem that there is a problem with Pinshape, I am now using Cults3D https://cults3d.com/en/users/t...*

This is the wheel that is used for LMP cars and some Formula cars. It uses a 4.3inch Nextion Screen for the dash and 12mm buttons on the front. There is a panel for a screen and LEDs or just a screen. The paddle shifters are AmStudio's design and a link to them are here: https://pinshape.com/items/47862-3d-printed-diy-magnetic-shift-paddles

This is the screen that will fit in the wheel: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07FD94BQW/?coliid=I338WM533HKXBE&colid=3G57NJ37BYI77&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it

you could upload the front of the steering wheel in .dwf format. I wanted to make the carbon fiber front but in the machine they ask me for this format to do it. I just need this in the front file. thanks

Do you have instruction to do it and also the electronics?

Tom Hamblyn
I use Amstudio's videos for the electronics and there are links in the description to the components.

Can I print the components with the I3 Mega, can I also pay via PayPal?
Reply6 years ago
Tom Hamblyn
Yes you can use the I3 Mega, but the Front and Back pieces have to be cut in half. All the other pieces are okay to print. I have found that parts cut in half are still really strong if glued back together and show no signs of being weaker. I made an F1 style wheel and had to cut it in half and to be honest it has been used very roughly when playing racing games and it is holding up completely fine. I believe Pinshape uses Paypal.

Hi -- Do you offer the printed parts for sale? Will the unit work with a 70mm wheel hub? Can the plastic buttons be upgraded to metal buttons / switches / rotaries? Fantastic work!
Reply5 years ago
Tom Hamblyn
Hi Jason, Yes I do offer printed parts for sale. It has been designed for 70mm hubs. If the buttons are 12mm in diameter, any style can be used. The rotaries can be changed to whichever ones you like, the hole for them is 6mm but can be drilled out if you are using larger rotaries. Thanks Tom

Hey @Tom Hamblyn , What is the largest part that can be 3d printed? I have a CNC router I can cut Aluminum on, but if I can 3d print the entire thing that would be great. Thanks!

Tom Hamblyn
Hi, The wheel is can be fully 3D Printed but you can cut the front plate to make the wheel stronger. As pinshape is not working currently, I am using PayPal and email to send the files, this does mean that a dxf file for the front is included in the files that are sent.

Hi, with a pro micro is it's possible to putt 6 encoder 12 buttons, leds and screen? And if so do you explain how? Thanks

Tom Hamblyn
Hi, I believe it is possible but very hard to do. Personally, I use a USB hub inside the wheel and you have the different boards plugged into the hub then it's only one USB coming out of the wheel.

Hi mate. Love the design. Just wondering if its possible to mount the wheel to a thrustmaster wheel base?
Reply5 years ago
Tom Hamblyn
Thanks. The wheel has a 70mm bolt pattern so yes it can be. There are many Thrustmaster quick releases on Thingiverse that you can download for free.

Hi Tom, I am very interested in purchasing your files to build my own LMP/IndyCar wheel, but I have a couple of questions. From what I can tell in your images of the 3D renders, the "center" of the grips are integrated into the main enclosure, correct? If so, is it possible to completely separate the grips from the enclosure? My plan is to use a 5mm thick sheet of carbon fiber for the main structure/front plate of the wheel, then mount the button guards, rear enclosure and grips (possibly printed in TPU) to the main plate . Can this be done with your files? And speaking of the front plate, do/can you provide a CAD drawing that can be printed out and used to cut the plate in carbon fiber, aluminum, etc..?

Hi, I redesigned this wheel and uploaded it to Cults3D as there is a problem with the Pinshape servers. The wheel on Cults has a dxf for the front and back plates with the grips being bolted onto the front plate. For getting the Carbon Fibre cut I would recommend using a cutting service. https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/game/cosworth-ccw-mk2
