Model Rocket Display Bases

Prints (0)

Description

In my vast collection of model rockets, I have several that cannot stand on their own three/four fins due to protrusions that extend below said fins. For some, I have created wall mounts out of PVC pipe and fittings to give the illusion of flying, which works great for those, but others - the smaller models, do not lend themselves well to that method. For those, I have designed these little display stands. I will add more designs, as well as photos of the completed stands, as time allows.

How I Designed This

Be kind with your comments. My computer did not have enough power to handle this model in Sketchup - my go to design program with which I am well familiar - so I decided to finally give FreeCAD and Blender a try. I designed the first one - base1 - in FreeCAD in the Parts workbench; converted it to a mesh; exported that; and ran it through NetFabb. I wanted to try my hand at creating valleys in the exhaust flame, so I loaded that STL into Blender and played around with it a bit there. I know it's not perfect, but I'm learning and I think it's pretty good for my maiden attempt.
