Shitty company, meh printer
The company itself, newmatter is not a good company, and not one i want to interact with in the future. Their printer is okay for a start, but i would look elsewhere unless you are gifted one.

The Mod-T is a good starter printer. The main downside is there is an ongoing issue with prints that reach the edge or close to the edge of the build area, the printer will stutter and stop, or worse, melt into the build plate.
That aside, it's a good printer if you're happy with just using PLA. It doesn't get hot enough consistently for ABS or PET-G, and it is not customizable aside from the features on the New Matter Store page.
The other thing I don't love is that any design you want to print needs to be uploaded to the store library. So now designs that I plan to sell are theoretically available to the general public.
its good
The software interface is pretty bad, the support forums on the website are filled with "custom workarounds" and sometimes you have to do something twice... the exact same way... to make it work... but as far as a $300 printer goes, you really can't complain about the MOD-t.
I think for a $300 printer, it's worth it. I generally use it to teach Elementary, Middle and High School Robotics. It's easy to use and my students enjoy using it.
had this printer for a month, only printed a few small items (key chains, soap dishes, etc) but the quality is perfect for the $200 price tag at the time. It was initially tough to load the filament, but through the forums by the company it was an easy fix, so only a 5 minute setback. The setup took only an hour from assembly to downloading the software on my computer which is 6 years old. It is a desktop printer, so if you're looking to build something 8 inches tall or taller, this one will not do it without glue
As I am new to 3D printing I found this printer to be easy to use and fun to use as well. Software is great and the cost is well worth the price. The customer service is great too. Solved my problem fast and was back printing. Have printed about 20 things and each one came out great! Easy to use the library on the site or download from Pinshape and printed from there as well. For a beginner I would highly recommend the MOD-t. Lots of fun!
The MOD-t is a kind of its own. The engineering is basically upside down, with the model moving xy and head only moving z axis. The results are mostly good, I had problems with the provided online slicer (upload, no preview, etc.) and never got the WiFi to work. I use Cura now and get consistent prints. New Matter's support is great and helped me with the one clog I had (in a year). I love the printer! It is a pretty, quiet showcase kinda device made for my living room.
### EDIT ### Jan 2018 ###
My extruder motor gave up after one year. This can happen since brushes wear out after a while and I did not think that this was a great deal. New Matter's support does not provide spare parts (reddit says it's company policy) and their best solution was to offer me a refurbished unit for 140 USD plus shipping.
Seriously? The DC motor costs about 5 bucks if you get it directly from China. I am so pissed! I was offered a discount on the replacement and I tried to get a spare part on my own which turned out to be a huge quest. I got to learn the downsides of a closed system the hard way.
Long story short: MOD-t is retired – probably for good. Over worn out brushes! Unbelievably unsustainable.
Was able to obtain a MOD-T from New Matter as a refurb. They were running a post Christmas special, as they were out of the normal units.
Could not argue with the price. $99 and FREE shipping.
Ordered a second one just because.....$99!
Very easy to use this printer. Did have one filament clog, but with New Matter's support, was able to get that cleared and have been printing away.
The Mod-T 3D printer is easy to setup and use. This is my first 3D printer so I don't have anything to compare the quality to, but so far I don't have any complaints in that department. I would definitely recommend it for beginners. The manufacturers software requires you to be connected to their website to print, but there is other software you can download to be able to print offline.
