A reprap machine is great 3d printer, it can achieve a great quality and good speeds, It just all depends on the user ability to tinker with the printer, if you want a ready to run product I would not recommend a Reprap, but in the other hand you want a very capable and expandable printer and are willing to take time to tinker with the machine is the best of the best.
This printer is the best solution to start home 3d printing in a relative low cost. The printer has simple building instructions and a large comunity For sharing or finding solutions of any problem. The abilities of the printer are mainly connected to your engineering skills on making a 3d model printalbe. That are my conclusions after using that printer for 3 month and printing only on pla, sorry for my english.
Great printer overall. The beauty of it that Prusa offers upgrades for older units os you can stay on top of the evolution in 3D printing. Having a broad choice of filaments is a great plus for this printer. The latest PEI bed needed some tweaking in firmware after it was launched but this is solved now and works like a charm. I would love to see a housing option as this would protect the printer from dust and people (children) touching the hot parts. It would also reduce the noise level. Good forum where users exchange experiences on the Prusa i3 MK2.
I share other users opinion that Prusa I3 is great way to get into 3D printing world and that it is open for upgrades so it is getting better all the time, although i did not purchase original kit from PRUSA . My printer was builded from the scratch, mix of several versions of Prusa I3 (Rework 1, Rework 1.5, Prusa Steel...) I like to encurage users to use it even for proffesional purposses. It can succesfully print at 80 microns which is nice!
had never used one of these before and was apprehensive. after about 15 min i was able to get this printer easily assembled and with 20 min of youtube education i was printing right away
Many print small figurine!
The RepRap Prusia i3 is a great printer. I purchased mine from RepRap Guru. All in all the kit went together fairly easily. I am a machinist by trade, so the mechanics were a piece of cake. As for getting the Arduino and electronics to communicate correctly, that took a little trial and error. The customer service at RepRap Guru was outstanding. After a few emails back and forth with the technician, on a Saturday (now thats service)! I had my printer up and running! My only complaints were some poor quality components. The linear slides and bearings do not hold up that well. These parts are fairly cheap to replace. Be sure to get precision ground hardened slide rails. The rails in the kit were drill rod, and fairly soft, the bearings started to score the rails after only a few hours of use. This is a great printer to get into 3d printing with. The SD card function, which allows you to print without being hooked to a computer, is great. As well as the built in lcd display and controls. which make printing files from your SD card a snap. If you like to tinker and know how things work, for the price, you cant go wrong with this printer!
It is a good 3D printer and also cheaper than other printer. I am satisfied with it. DermaDream
