Description
I wanted to create a Viking axe and then re-imagine it a bit more modern and polished. I ended up creating the Dragon Axe.
The handle can be used with the printed material or wrapped with leather. I used hemp rope to do mine. There are rings that can be placed between sections of the handle, to hide the seams of where the axe will be connected.
You could use any other symbol on the top of the axe. I've left a fitting to add your own, or use the dragon as provided.
I recommend printing the handles vertically with 25% infill, so that it has a nice weight to it. You should also use a brim or raft, to make sure it sticks well to the bed without any wobbling. Alternatively, you could print them laying down with supports, and then just sand the part with the supports.
You should print the rings file two times, one for each joining of the handles. To join the handles I recommend superglue or 2 part epoxy.
For the pommel, you can print the full thing in one go, or the sliced 2 parts, and then glue them together (that's what I did, to make sure the symbols were perfect)
For good detail, I recommend at 0.12. You could use 0.2 or bigger for the handle parts, since they don't have a lot of detail.
