Description

Summary This is a lens cover hood combo. It was made using sketchpunk's "Mechanical Iris" visit, like, and follow his page linked below for assembly instructions of the iris. http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:773759 & PrototypeProfessor's "Nikon 18-55 af Lens hood" you should also visit, like, and follow his page linked below for a video explaining the functionality of the lens hood he created. This design may not support some of the mentioned fish eye effects, but will work on making it fit. http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1600188 This cover and hood combo was designed to fit "Nikon DX AF-S NIKKOR 55-200mm1:4-5.6G ED" lens pictured above. & "Nikon DX AF-S NIKKOR 18-55mm1:3.5-5.6G ED" two small screw hole are on the side of the base to allow added security if felt needed. This design has not been tested with additional filters and lens effects fitted on the end of the camera anyone who cares to do so please let me know how it holds up and provide pictures because corrections can easily be made to add additional space between the "base" and the lens. The Iris doesn't completely close a small pea sized hole it as far as is goes. However the leafs should provide enough support to handle light pokes and bumps. This was made for fun and will not provide an airtight seal from dust, or water it is simply a semi function show piece. and of course if anyone has any questions, or if having trouble with the print send me a message and I will do my best to help you out and correct any issues that arise. Thanks 09.14.2016 - A design error in the "base" file has been fixed. The new "base" file has had the adapter rotated so the it sits square with the camera. The base has also had its side holes filled to make a more uniformed look and provide more protection . The spacer file has also been modded to provide more protection and easier assembly. Sorry for the inconvenient. Print Settings Printer Brand: Printrbot Printer: Simple White Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: .2mm Infill: 25% Notes: Shell Thickness- .8mm Print Speed- 60mm/s x11pin & x11leaf need to be printed at .1mm layer height with a 10% infill. It was also printed with a speed of 50mm/s . Printing all of the x11pins in one print and all the x11leafs in one print is recommended. if you can not print all at once print a minimum of at least 2 at a time. Post-Printing A small amount of cleaning up needed to be done to the "base" and "topwithguard" prints this was done with gloves, safety glasses, and an Exacto Knife; please be safe. On the "base" you may need to clean up/cut small pieces of plastic that are underneath the inner lip to ensure that the cover properly attached to the camera. & on the "topwithguard"you will need to cut some more on the inner diameter in the hood near the build plate (fingers can be used). There is also a small included support ring that should be removed. Once the leafs and pins have been super glued together and the base of the pin and the flat of the leaf are flush, level, and dry you should insert the pin you glued in into the middle rings holes when assembling.
