Description

SummaryThis is a 60.86 mm diameter by 352.49 mm high model of the M38A2 100 pound inert practice bomb. This was filled with sand and sometimes a small marker explosive then used during target practice in the forties and fifties. The originals were 48 inches long with a 9 inch diameter. The sheet metal is slightly off scale to make the fins 2 mm thick so it is easy to print on an FDM machine. If you scale this so it's 304 mm high ( .862 of it's height ) it would be quarter scale. One of the assembly pegs is under the tail assembly and doubles as a support during printing. Glue together, add eyelets and finish as desired. Should print pretty well without supports but you might wanna turn them on anyway for the underside of the fins and between the peg and tail assembly.Post-PrintingThe nose cone goes on top of the body peg. That will make the places for the hangers end up in the right place. The peg that prints under the fins is used to fix the tail to the body. Don't bother downloading the "bombs away" STL, I just wanted to see how they would look in formation in thingview. How I Designed ThisMade in SketchUp.
