Description
A handy under table headphone holder for those of us who want less clutter on the desktop and a handy way to store our bulky headsets. I designed this to hold my SteelSeries Siberia 650 gaming headset to my Ikea Bekant adjustable desk, which has a 17mm thick tabletop. The headphone holder has a total effective length of 40mm including 5mm worth of bump, and perfectly fits the 35mm wide Siberia headband. Wider banded phones, will stay pretty well too, but would benefit from a longer stud to feel more professional. I'll make a longer one, or a model to fit different desk thicknesses if there's interest - just let me know.
Most of the shelf and table mounted headset holders I've seen hold the phones in line with the table or desktop, or perpendicular to the insertion direction of the holder. My design is the opposite, holding the phones sideways to the front of the desk or parallel to the holder insertion direction . This way the phones take up less space and are more easily accessed and placed back using one hand.
There are two options for the file, just mirrors of each other. The Headphone Holder Left goes on the left hand side of your desk and the Headphone Holder Right goes on the right. Personally I have my mouse on my right hand side and prefer to keep my headphones on the left, as I sit closer to the right side of my desk. But it's really about personal preference, and maybe down to your phones - the cable on the Siberia's runs on the left side.
The holder was designed with easy printing in mind, all bottom surfaces are left with 90-degree corners to walls and it prints without supports. A small brim or skirt might be useful, depending on how good your bed adhesion is, but almost all corners are rounded enough to not need anything extra - or at least that was the intent. I printed this out in PETG for the sturdiness and the flex - PLA would probably work too, but the part that fits onto the desk may experience fatigue after a while. If the holder starts to sag, it might be worth trying to warm it up with a hairdryer or a heat gun to get it to return to form. Or, maybe just print another one.
