Truncated icosahedron Buckyball with 32 holes

Description

Core for the Copper Magnet Sphere. Printed 4 times by 3dhubs, 3 so far filled with 15 x 4mm neodymium magnets.

Each hole must be sanded for tight fit of magnets (I used glue also). Not an easy task, so you can buy one of my Copper Magnet Spheres complete if you want, polished or unpolished/matte... with or without the copper shell if you want. No stand included yet.

Magnetic field strength is lessened when all north poles are faced outward, as in 2 of the 3 I have made. Between the magnets  south poles still exist, so they won't levitate on a wide surface of north. One has only 12 north poles, where the black is on a soccer ball. Its field strength is noticeably greater than the other 2. One of the 4 remains without magnets.

I'm still designing (or not designing) the stand for the finished copper sphere. Share your ideas!
