Description

Here is a 3D model of Captain America. The base model is from the cadnav website (http://www.cadnav.com/3d-models/model-45311.html). It was in a 3D Studio Max file format (MAX) that i exported to STL.

I modified the model in ZBrush to be able to print it with a printer that uses 0.2 or 0.1 mm resolution and a 0.4 to 0.2mm nozzle.

To achieve this i replaced the head to be able to print the eyes. The original model had eyelashes that when converted to STL (or OBJ) blocked the eyes. I also replaced the shield to incorporate the star design. Most importantly, I thickened the shield to be able to print it without problems on a printer that uses 0.4mm nozzle at 0.2mm resolution. I also modified the arm holding the shield for the same reason. I added scales on the armor and thickened some groves the see them more clearly when printed at a small scale. Lastly, i modified the foots to make them flat so the model would stand perfectly when printed without the base. It also helped stabilize the model while printing instead of having support structures underneath it's foots.

I added 2 versions with a slightly different base and another that you can print separately from the base if you want less hassle when painting the base. The bases have incorporated pegs to help with the assembly of the figurine. There is a gap between the size of the pegs and the holes in the figurine foots so that it is not hard to glue the two pieces together.

You need to use supports to print this model. Most slicer program can automatically generate supports.
