Should all the gears be locked to the shafts? Or should any of the gears spin freely on one of the shafts?

Having trouble printing C024. The middle is not holding together. I've tried rotating it 90 degrees so its flat and standing up. Any suggestions on how to print this piece?

Have you succeeded? You need to add supports under the middle section and printed splines down.. Using slic3r generated supports does not work too well.ie a small plate across the ends (0.7 thickness )and space supports out from the middle all locked together with a 20mm circular piece at 0.7 height.

Nice design. However there are several things to note. 1) the 3 x shifter splines are too tight and do not engage easily enough. I fixed this by enlarging to 104%, cutting off the top and bottom and splicing onto original middle and then adjusting for diameter increase of 104 % .2) The shafts are not worth printing . I used 10mm dowel. I had to adjust the spacing in places. 3)The larger parts I had to add plates to hold the print down due to bending on my printer as the print cooled (Prusa clone)ie end, top plates, larger gears. 4)Also many of the parts are not actually ready for printing and need to be rotated 90 degrees using Slic3r. Have spent about 2 weeks on this as each item took about 40-130 minutes to print. Spacers being the exception. 5)I locked the lower shaft using holes drilled through each gear and filament threaded in. Had to use a steel pin on the drive having locked C008,9 together. 6) I haven't glued anything on the top shaft as the shifters cover all the splines, which are locked to the shaft with filament in the holes and welded on one side with a soldering iron. The 10mm dowel is actually only 9.5mm which makes everything a little loose on the shafts. However all working now with a drive motor running a gearbox from pinshape.
