Description

Looking online I found many aids to help people eat with disabilities. Unfortunately none of them were ergonomic. The hand was in a pronated position. Modeled some of these devices and they were very hard to eat with. A neutral hand position reduced wrest stain, reduced dropped food, created larger eating area and angle, and improved user experience . The Power Ring is a flexible platform. The hand size can be adjusted to fit the users needs. Based of hand sizes I have exported Men Max and avg, Female avg, and Child avg/Female min. This design is for both forks and spoons. I have also designed a hook model to show the flexibility of the Power Ring.

Hi 2robotguy! I am an occupational therapist. I printed this design, and we have a young client who will really benefit from this design. You put a great deal of detail in this design. The rounded edges where the hand sits are very comfortable, and the slit where the spoon goes in allows a variety of silverware to sit firmly. Thanks for making the various sizes. Great design!! I noticed that I am using this design slightly different. When turned the other way, the thumb and fingers take a natural holding position. The only thing I would like to have different is the handle, that it take the natural curve of the hand.
