Description

SummaryMade by Randell Daniel Co This is an instruction on how to make your own bamboo framed wing. This was originally part of a costume called Incursio Evolve from Akami Ga Kill. MY friend requested me to make him this costume. Going as far as prototyping 3 versions of this wing. "MATERIALS" bamboo (diameter 1.5cm). glue gun. mighty ban. 3D printer. metal skewer stick. zip tie(these wings gets heavy so some 3d prints may break). Metal or wooden stick (min 45cm). "WARNING" This may be not exact measurements because tiny variation on the angle of one of the joints would drastically change the wing shape. depending on the size and material of the wing your 3d print might break. the ends of the wings should be connected with a metal so that if it hits something the metal would bend instead of the joints taking the punishment. "VIDEO" https://youtu.be/y9G45rBRPyU Print SettingsPrinter: Dremel Idea Builder 3D20Rafts: NoSupports: NoResolution: FastInfill: 80%~100%Notes: you only need supports on extra long body.stl the reason who it need a high infill is because these joints will need to support a whole wing. Even with 100% infill it still breaking on the body and lock of the joints.Post-Printingyou may want to glue the body and lock of all joints with mighty ban but you could use glue gun(this might be weaker). How I Designed ThisDESIGN 1 I created a axled design using strings to pull the wings open. (that was hard and it will only open 1 axle from its 3 axles. DESIGN 2 Bamboo with popsicle joints(this was too weak but it proved the concept to be working INSPIRTION I bought a portable umbrella to see how it works. so ill just use those measurement and size it up to make the wing. I use bamboo because it is really strong and I can't bend like metal Almost all my materials can be found in Canadian Dollarama
