Description
Summary Caution: DO NOT USE THIS AS IS. Printed ABS/PLA gimbal guard does not have enough strength, almost useless when in crash. I designed this as a template for cutting CFRP. See "Instructions" for detail. In the pictures, the guard is made with 1.5mm CFRP board. My P3 also wears http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:890374 body sun shade, and nside camera UV filter is ND8 (3 steps) filter which reduces jello effect on sunny day. Designed using OpenSCAD. Instructions To make CFRP/FRP gimbal guard, first print-out this, test (and modify if necessary) on your bird, fix it on CFRP/FRP board and cut using diamond blade bandsaw/handy grinder. This template is designed for very tight protection but not to affect to FOV, gimbal movement (power-on gimbal dance) nor VPS sensors. However, if using thicker CFRP/FRP board, it may affect to gimbal dance (cut the center front part more), when camera full-down and quick rapid movement (esp. backward), part of the view maybe covered. At the center part, you don't have to makeup holes if difficult (as my picture), because almost no airflow there. The last 2 pictures are another idea of backside guard (no CAD data, sorry). I made it with remnant of CFRP. Lower is better, but be careful not to avoid "eyesight" of ultrasonic sensors; make prototype with paper, put it on your bird and confirm VPS height value shows correct.
