Description

Front door assembly with a frame, hinges and a locking mechanism, using a clear plastic sheet as a door.

A special thanks to @HydraHimera for the idea of making the frame. Check it out! I use the sidepanel from HydraHimera, but with clear plastic instead of the door.

(I will probably try to redesign the lock mechanism later on.)

Assembly

You need som extra parts to make the full assembly. You can use magnets or something else to lock the door if you`re not want to use the lock mechanism.

For just the door you will need: Two pins with a diameter at 4-5mm, I used a 4mm hex screw, but the holes is 5mm. A sheet of plastic, preferable clear. aprox 180 x 200mm.

For the lock I used a M5 x 15mm bolt with two nuts and a washer for stabilisation. To make the lock spring back in to lockposition I used two springs 5mm x 20mm. But you can use springs from two ballpoint pens. (Sand the flats of a bit until the mechanism runs smooth, you might also add some lubricant if you want an even smoother movment.)

Its quite implicite how it should come together, and use the pictures for a better understanding of how its put together.

To fasten the frame in the printeer I used hot glue, the same for the lock and hinges.

Please give me a feedback, both positive and negative feedback is welcome.
