Description

Hi everyone,

I wanted to print a yarn bowl as a present but every model I found here had deficiencies. So, I made my own while having been inspired by others. The highlights of this model include:

— it’s not low-poly so there is no corneriness especially when printing large curves

— bottom part is printed separately and can be weighted.

— text can be personalized (if you know how to do it)

Weight Increase: Not only does the higher weight bring a better quality impression it helps when you try to knit and pull on the bowl. Lower part can be filled with sand or as in my case metal disks and glued to the upper part

Text and Logo: Text and logo of my print were personalized. The files I uploaded are with generic text. You can edit the step file I added to personalize it yourself. If you have a great idea for text or logo let me know. You will have to glue the printed text and logo into the top part. Don’t forget to print the text and logo smaller so it fits. You can also fill in the gaps with your own color if you have the means to do so.

Print with setting suitable for your printer. Its optimized for 0,2mm layer hight. Mouth and spiral of the top part definitely need some support. It is doable even with the crappy Cura support algorithm by inserting some support blockers. Lower part has thin walls (0,4mm). make sure your line wight is not greater than 0,4mm and “thin walls” setting is active.

Important: print text and logo with horizontal expansion (aka XY Size Compensation), otherwise it will not fit. I printed my with -0,2mm expansion.

Resolution: 0,2mm
