Snowboard Mount, CG Hooks

Description

Try this unique GRAB and GO style of displaying your snowboard.  When anyone sees your board displayed like this it will take a moment to make sense of how it works.

These hooks are specifically designed to hang your snowboard in a cantilevered method: Only one hook on the bottom and an offset hook on the top, they are positioned to use the Center of Gravity ("CG") of the board to hold it in position.  I've been doing this for over a year now, and it's working excellent!

How It Works Imagine the board flat against the wall, in the horizontal position, bindings out, balanced on one hook in the middle, and you're holding the top edge with your hand to keep it from tipping forward. Now you slide the board to the right several inches moving it's Center of Gravity past the hook. Now the board wants to rotate clockwise around that hook if you let go, but if you place the second hook above and near the left end of the board it catches and holds nicely... cantilevered.

Holes are designed to fit #12 size wood screws, or a similar countersunk head fastener. Mount the bottom hook into a wall stud, because it will carry all the weight of the snowboard plus the reaction weight of the cantilevered hook.

You'll also want to print at least one Balance Pad because the CG of any board with bindings will most likely tip forward slightly out from the wall - the tail making contact with the wall and the nose sticking out a few inches, but the balance pad brings it back into parallel with the wall and is completely invisible to the viewer. Check out the small pad in the photo's, on the lower set of hooks. The upper board has no bindings, so it didn't need a pad. The Balance Pad does NOT need to be fastened to the wall because it's strictly in compression, so you can just use a removable sticky strip, like Command Strips.

Stable, unique, visually curious, elegant. It makes mounting/unmounting the board simple and addictive.

Just try it. Then please post a photo so I can revel in the beauty of it too.

Cheers, Mark
