Scissor Snake Family - 3D Printed by richard_swika
These are the proof prints for RevA of the Scissor Snake Super, Magnum and Curvy versions. There was an error in the original version of these files that caused some of the pivot joints to fuse. After over two years someone, TLC50, finally mentioned the error so I could fix it. I'm not sure when the error was introduced because I printed them when I first did the design and I'm sure they worked fine back then. So whatever happened, I was able to locate the source and regenerate the files. In case anyone is curious, all the scissor snakes are made from the same crossover bearing, just duplicated and morphed using shape keys in Blender. There are 3 shape keys driven by position, to control the arm length, height and form (end or center) for each bearing. I use an array modifier to duplicate the bearings in position and drive the shape key parameters. There was an error caused by a few stray vertex that got left behind and didn't get morphed with the shape keys as expected. As long as the displacement was not too large the part would still work. With these larger Scissor Snakes the problem was amplified and caused the fusing when the surfaces got too close or intersected.
