This is an array of 15 servos each individually operating a little laser pointer holder to swivel it back 'n forth ... the idea is to program the swivels to correspond to music you hear playing ... Sorry, the box cannot be made on a MakerBot so easily, but it could if it was cut-up like puzzle pieces and made as interlocking parts ... which would be really neat. But you can see that a MakerBot is needed for the specialty pieces ... See it work; http://www.r2pv1.com/media/Rob... This is another of many entries to the makezine.com/go/makerbot contest ... blog.makezine.com/archive/2010/04/makerbot_giveaway.html Instructions I suggest laser cut the big flat parts from plastic or even cardboard. MakerBot the odd 3D pieces ... then go buy a buttload of servos and laser pointers ... and a small programmable µcontroller ... write a simple program that allows you to enter notes 'n beats to cause the laser pointers to swivel back 'n forth to the music. If you successfully make this with a 3D printer please send me the build-file and machine type so it can be uploaded here for others to use. MakerBot the 3D parts and send me a set.
