Description

Summary The New Bright Beetle Buggy, what a great and Huge RC car for the kids to play with. These were sold at Costco about seven years ago. Only problem is, they discontinued this product and you can't find batteries anymore and the NiCd battery it came with doesn't last very long. Thought about rebuilding the NiCd pack but I have the Ryobi One+ rechargable batteries for my tools, so I thought Why Not Convert the Beetle Buggy to use Ryobi One+ Batteries? Fortunately I found an adapter here on Thingiverse that got me about 80% of the way to what I needed. Just wire it up to the beetle buggy battery terminals, bolt in place and off you go. Note, the original battery was 19.2V and the One+ are 18V so you're looking at a small percentage of lost power. But it's more than made up for by the increased run time. Post-Printing Wire up and bolt to the undercarriage, or use big cable ties. (Remove old NiCd Battery first.)What it looks like with the battery mounted.A little creativity and some epoxy will get the contacts in the right place to extract the power from the battery.
