Bring the characters of your imagination to life with our Character Design Contest! Create a 3D model of an original character, human or non-human, and give your character a name and story. All entries will be entered to win a Formlabs Form 2 3D Printer and a cartridge of new Grey resin which has a beautiful matte finish, as seen in the image above! BONUS: If you post a link to your design on social media and tag @pinshape & @formlabs, you’ll be entered to win a free SLA print of your design from Formlabs.

Daniel is a passionate 3D Artist, aspiring Filmmaker, and multi-disciplinary thinker with extensive experience in 3D Printing & 3D Modeling for a wide array of top-tier clients and brands, including: Disney, LucasFilm, Jurassic World, Star Wars, Marvel, Pixomondo, Dropbox, Sight & Sound Theaters, PDP, and many others. Coming from a formal background in Biology and Clinical Emergency Medicine, Daniel has a passion for merging his fascination with science, nature, and animals with his skills in the 3D Modeling / 3D Printing fields.
Robert Vignone

Robert Vignone (aka Polysculpture) is a freelance digital character sculptor and 3D printing artist who has worked more than 10 years in the film and game industry. He has worked on exciting titles such as Avatar, Hellboy and most recently, How to Train Your Dragon 2 as well as several game titles.

Sonia Verdu is an artist who started out with painting and ceramics and now spends much of her time with 3D Modeling. She’s a sculptor, painter, and designer who specializes in articulating models and has created a number of realistic ball jointed dolls that are 3D printed and finished with a variety of different techniques.
Frequently Asked Questions
What kind of files can I submit for the challenge?
We accept .STL, .MCX, .AMF, .3MF, .DXF, .IGES, .DWG, .STEP, .ACIS, .OBJ, .FORM, .PDF, .DOCX, .TXT and .ZIP files. You can submit up to a max of 150 files and 25 photos (this is photos of the design not files for the design). 100MB is the maximum total file size.
What happens to my design if I win?
You will keep ownership of the design and it will remain available to everyone in the Pinshape community to enjoy!
Can I submit designs I’ve made available on other sites or for other contests?
Yes you can. If it isn’t on Pinshape yet and it is something you’ve designed, it’s fair game!
Do I still own my designs when I post them?
Of course! We will never take over control of your work, we’re on your side.
How do I enter the challenge?
Upload your design to Pinshape and check the “Submit this model to the “Character Design Contest” box on the upload form.
When/how will the winners be announced?
The winner will be announced in the week following the end of the contest, in a post on the Pinshape blog. If you’re a winner, you’ll be contacted directly by the Pinshape team.
