Perfluorooctanesulfonic acid Molecule 3D Model with Engraved Atoms (CAS 1763-23-1)
Free

Perfluorooctanesulfonic acid, C8HF17O3S, is an open chain with no rings: 30 atoms held together by 29 bonds, 27 single and 2 double. Eight carbons run end to end, every one of them sp3, and seventeen fluorines line the backbone, one C-F bond each. The chain finishes in a sulfonic acid group (-SO3H), where both double bonds sit on the sulfur.

Each sphere in this ball-and-stick print has its element symbol engraved into the surface, so the F, C, O, S and the single H can be read straight off the part without paint.

Printing notes: scale the model up in your slicer before printing. Plain PLA on any FDM printer is fine. Add light supports under the bonds and the lower spheres, and use a fine layer height so the engraved letters stay crisp.

Atom positions come from a computed 3D conformer. Shared under CC BY-SA 4.0, made by MolGod.
