Epichlorohydrin Molecule 3D Model with Engraved Atoms (CAS 106-89-8)
Free

Epichlorohydrin molecular model (C3H5ClO, CAS 106-89-8): a free, print-ready ball-and-stick model with the element symbol engraved on every atom, designed for chemistry lessons.

Turn the model in your hand to see the shape of Epichlorohydrin: one 3-membered ring, and 10 bonds in total (all of them single). How many atoms can the class find? The engraved spheres give 3 C + 5 H + 1 Cl + 1 O, so the answer should be 10. Functional groups to find on the model: epoxide ring (three-membered C-O-C ring) and C-Cl bond. The record leaves the configuration of Epichlorohydrin open at one stereocentre, so students can sketch each possible arrangement on paper and compare. A good fit for lessons on chirality, enantiomers and CIP (R/S) rules, on ring strain in three-membered rings, as well as on organohalogen compounds and carbon-halogen bonds.

Printing: the STL is in angstrom units - scale it 10x in the slicer (1 angstrom = 10 mm). Use supports under the bonds; PLA works well.
