Shining 3D is proud to present this great opportunity to win some incredible prizes and show the world your impressive fashion sense and 3D printing design talent. You’ll compete for your share of a prize pool that includes 6 3D printers, $5000+ in cash and the privilege of having your work shown off on stage at the 2nd International 3D Printing Fashion Show at the 2015 World 3D Printing and Technology Industry Conference & Expo June 3-6, 2015 in Chengdu, China!

We’re looking for the very best designs in 3D printed fashion to put on display, so show us what you can do.

Some design ideas:
Shoes, glasses, hats, accessories (purses, belts, etc.), jewelry, dresses, shirts and anything else you can think of!

Since this is a worldwide contest, we’ll be looking for innovative, exciting and fashion-forward ideas, not simply basic designs. It’s time to get creative and push the limits of 3D printing!

Judging Criterion

Designs that advance to the finals will be judged on the following criteria:

3D Design: overall quality, novelty, innovation, ease of printing
Fashion: Style, utility
Presentation: detailed description (What is it?, What’s the backstory that inspired it?, What settings should be used to print?), high-quality pictures, tags.

NOTE: The top entries on Pinshape will be combined with Shining 3D’s top local entries in China, at which point the final winners will be chosen.

General Rules

Contest closes on May 15, 2015 as 23:59:59 IST
Entries cannot have been previously submitted to Pinshape
Entries must comply with Pinshape’s content policy
Entrants must be registered with Pinshape to enter
There is no fee to enter the challenge
Entrants can submit as many unique entries as they would like
Contest open worldwide
Must be possible to fit the individual pieces of the design in a 500mm x 500mm x 500mm print volume
Designs can consist of a single part, or multiple parts

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I enter the challenge?

Submit an original, 3D printable design to Pinshape by checking the "Submit this model to the Shining 3D Fashion Contest” box on the upload form.

What happens to my design if I win?

You will keep ownership of the design. It will be printed off and shown at the 2015 Shining 3D Fashion Show from 5th to 6th June at Chengdu, which is a part of the Third World 3D Printing Technology Industry Conference, the biggest 3d printing summit.

Can I submit designs I’ve made available on other sites or for other contests?

Yes you can. If it isn’t on Pinshape yet and it is something you’ve designed, it’s fair game! Keep in mind though, we are looking for innovative, fashion-forward designs here.

Do I still own my designs when I post them?

Of course! We will never take over control of your work, we’re on your side.

I want to sell my design, but not allow people to steal it. Can I do that?

To protect your file, you can stream it (pre-sliced file) directly to a 3D printer without giving away the source file.

When will the winner be announced?

The winner will be announced prior to the start of the Expo, on June 3.

Does it matter if the designs are free or if I set a price?

Makes no difference to us!

I don’t live in China, am I still eligible for this contest?

You sure are! The contest is open to anyone in the world.

I can be in Chengdu during the event (June 3-6), can I come to the show if I win?

Yes you can, and that would be AWESOME! IF you are one of the winners, we invite you to attend the show to receive recognition for your great work.
