As 2017 comes to a close, it’s time to look back at the Pinshape Community’s favourite designs of the year. In this post, you’ll find 2017’s top rated designs which include contest winners, functional assemblies, and challenging electronics projects.
With the release of The Last Jedi, we couldn’t think of a better way to kick things off than with cworthdynamics’ Saber Hilt. This was designed to print on the Formlabs Form 2, and Sean Charlesworth has included a full guide so that you can create your own.
Brett Turnage did an incredible job with his RC Motorcycle designs which includes a number of impressive features like an articulating rider and gyroscopic stabilization. A challenging but rewarding project for makers and RC enthusiasts!
The SLO Camera is almost entirely printed side for a few minor components and the film. Even the lens was printed on a Formlabs Form 2, and their tutorial on the process is a great reference for learning to create optically transparent designs.
This design by Brian Chan is almost entirely printed and sounds like a proper violin. Check out the video of the violin in action which uses an actual recording from this print as a backdrop.
Laellee’s Widow’s Kiss rifle is full-sized based on the model in the game and fully transformable much like the prop in the game. If you’re looking for a printing project during your time off for the holidays, this is a great pick.
Thanks to all of you who were a part of the Pinshape Community in 2017! We’re looking forward to another great year ahead and to seeing more of your designs and prints!
