Great priced 3D Printer that doesn't disappoint

After looking at a lot of 3D Printer reviews I finally stumbled upon the Wombot Exilis and it seemed to tick all the boxes. Was looking for a 3D printer that had a decent print area and was easily upgradable as technology progresses.

The Wombot is made in Australia (which is where I'm from as well) and seemed to get very good reviews and feedback from exisiting customers. Put in my order and printer was sent out within about 3 weeks.

After some initial teething issues about getting the Z offset correct (the distance between the extruder tip and the print bed) all prints are now coming out great.

Be advised though that a 3D printer isn't like a normal printer where you plug it in and start printing. There is a learning curve to using a 3D printer but there's plenty of online videos and info on how to get the Wombot working perfect. On the one occasion I emailed Wombot with a question they responded within about 30 minutes with the exact info I was looking for.

The Wombot Exilis is an open printer and resembles any of the the PRUSA type printers.

It has a print volume of 250mm x 250mm x 330mm - which is quite large compared to most 3D printers. It comes with heated bed and for and extra $150AUD I also got the Dual Extruder option - so I can print multiple colours. You can now even buy an case for it to make it a fully enclosed printer.

As I mentioned - it is easily upgradable and most parts can be easily removed. You can find many user generated upgrades on the internet to make the wombot even better.

Would easily recommend this printer to anyone looking to get into 3D Printing.

I actually have a Wombot Modus but Pinshape does not list it and I can not add it.

This is my big machine, when I need to make a big thing, or a bunch of little things, or fewer middle sized things, you get where I am coming from.  Less user friendly, but very reliable.  I did have the cooling fan come loose, it was just hot glued on and now it is heal in place with a tywrap.
